Packing for a hospital stay when giving birth can be an overwhelming task, but with a little planning and organization, it can be made easier!
THE BAG
Before I delivered, I asked many experienced moms what they had in their delivery bags. Thanks for all your inputs, I took them all onboard. This is the list of items I ended up with and those you should definitely shamelessly steal from the hospital. I hope this helps or at least put a smile on your faces.
TO BRING
Device for Playing Music or Stream or go online – for distraction and relaxation
A charger – Duh!
Device to take photo – that is the man’s job
Shower Kit – For relaxation, I am glad I have brought my own scent. You will get all that from the hospital but it all smells so…clinical!
Hair Care Kit – I mean, who cares? You care. There is a device to take photos right?
Lip Balm - My lips welcomed some TLC before and after delivery and I did not want to look like Tyrone Biggum (Chapelle Show Reference) when my baby arrived
Newborn Clothes - That baby needs some clothes (onesies, socks, gloves, hats)
Snacks – That is the least you can do for yourself. Hospital options are really bad. I tried to bring my favorite high energy, high calorie favs
Plastic slippers – Yes, your toenails will fall off if you take a shower at the hospital without it
Car seat - All ready to roll of course
TO STEAL
Hospital birthing undies and extra-absorbent pads - You will bleed a lot postpartum
Lidocaine spray or witch hazel pads - To relieve pain from tearing
Socks – They’re pretty good
Nightgowns - They’re pretty good
Hospital buckets and cups – You can thank me later
Oh. If you are not compelled to steal, you should definitely ask. Friendly staff will gladly offer you a few if not all of these! They understand and appreciate you asking.
DEFINITELY DID NOT NEED
A Nursing Bra – I was just naked most of the time. I mean who cares. After what you go through…Who cares? You've earned it
Socks – See To Steal Sections. They’re pretty good. Do not go on Amazon for this.
Nightgown – I mean….You’ll probably be naked a lot after the baby was born…or was it just me?! Lol
Makeup – Ahhahahahahhhaahhaaha! Girl...
Books and Magazine – You are so cuuuute honey…
Remember, it's always better to overpack than underpack, so don't be afraid to bring along items you may not end up using. By packing early and being prepared, you can help ensure a smooth and stress-free hospital stay when giving birth.
What was or is on your list? What else is up for stealing? What was the most useless thing you brought to the hospital? I cannot wait to read your comments!
